Alex Solely is a contemporary composer and artist whose music is built on deliberate simplicity. He is interested in how little music needs in order to say something meaningful. Drawing on neoclassicism, minimalism and impressionistic thinking, his compositions use clear melodies, restrained textures, recurring motifs and silence as their primary materials.

His works often take the form of musical sketches — sometimes fragmentary, sometimes deliberately unresolved. Many begin with a personal thought, place or emotional state, but Solely does not attach a fixed meaning to them. Once a piece is written, it becomes independent of its author, leaving each listener free to find something different within the same music.

Since his debut album Piano Solely in 2024, his music has gradually expanded beyond solo piano while keeping the instrument at its centre. Subsequent projects, including The Home Concert and Cascade, have brought piano into dialogue with strings, electronics and atmospheric textures, extending his musical language without abandoning its characteristic restraint.

His music has been presented internationally, from Italy and Austria to Kazakhstan and the UAE.

His debut album Piano Solely received a Silver Medal at the Global Music Awards. His composition Fuss later received the Diamond Prize and the Excellent Technique Special Award at the World Master Open Music Competition.

Through each new work, Solely continues to explore how much can be expressed with the simplest musical means.
